I have always had a big heart for animals. Growing up we always had a house full and it seemed to be a magnet for strays! My first job was at a vet working as a vet tech and I did that for two years until I decided I wanted to be a groomer. I became a certified groomer in January 2013 and started working at Smooch my Pooch shortly after that. I am gaining so much experience here and hope to further my career in the years to come. I love being here taking care and transforming your pets. I have one of the best jobs I could imagine and I am so blessed to be doing what I have a passion for and love.
Hi! My name is Marissa and I have had a dog problem since before I could walk. I was always getting in trouble by my mother for feeding the strays that would wonder near, as I got older I realized how expensive caring for animals were. I soon realized that the only way to love all the dogs at one time was to make it an occupation. That’s when I found my home at Smooch My Pooch where I can love all of your fur babies like my own and still remain within budget. We are definitely a Home away from Home for all of your spoiled dogs, because all of our spoiled dogs attend daycare, and boarding regularly. I have one Fur Baby of my own, Miss Avry Rose, and she loves to come to daycare at Smooch My Pooch everyday. I am truly blessed to have found a job that allows me to work with her everyday!
I have been grooming dogs for over 6 years. I trained at Petco in Baton Rouge and became a professional groomer in 2010. Three years ago I walked into Smooch my Pooch and immediately fell in love with the staff, customers and pooches here! I have always had a love for dogs of all sizes and enjoy breed specific cuts. I have a passion for what I do and I am always learning new techniques. I hope to soon expand into grooming cats and love that my job can allow me grow my career. I am excited to come to work every day and look forward to meeting and grooming your furry pooches.
I have been a certified dog groomer for 11 years. I have always had a passion for taking care of animals. Before I became a groomer I worked at the Baton Rouge Zoo for 5 years. I really enjoy being able to make a pet parents baby look and feel fabulous.
I'm an animal lover by heart. Doesn't matter if you're having a bad day, never underestimate the power of sloppy kisses and a wet nose. They each have their own personality. I don't see them as different breeds.. I see them as dogs. As if they were my own. Among the things in my life I thank god the most , is the love that he gives me for animals. My world would be so different. So incomplete. A lot emptier. Smooch my pooch gave me the opportunity to have my dream job and I love every minute of it. My heart is paved with paw prints.
When my mom and I were painting pottery one day in 2007 and came up with the crazy idea to open a grooming salon/doggie daycare, I never thought it would have led us to where we are now. We knew we had an amazing concept and with Shelley's outstanding grooming skills, we were able to open the areas first by appointment grooming salon. We soon realized that this would become bigger and better than we could have even imagined. I graduated from college in 2002 with a degree in Mass Communication and never dreamed that I would be putting these skills to use in my own small business or with dogs being my biggest clients. I absolutely love what I do and am so thankful to have an amazing staff to help me fulfill my dreams no matter what I throw at them or how crazy it may be!
Ever since I was a little girl I've been obsessed with dogs! Every Christmas I would ask my parents for a dog, and one year I was lucky enough to receive one. Animals in general can switch my mood instantly, but something about dogs makes my heart fill with happiness. I'm so happy that I get to experience my love for dogs at Smooch My Pooch!
I grew up always having a house full of all different kinds of pets and my parents bred registered Dalmatians for years. I can remember in school every time I had to write what I wanted to be when I grew up I always filled in the blank with "veterinarian." As I got older I realized I wasn't cut out for the whole surgical thing that comes along with being a vet. So when I joined the Smooch My Pooch team in 2012 at the age of 17, I knew it would be the perfect match for me. I quickly fell in love with all the pooches there and am extremely blessed to be working with such an awesome staff that makes my job so enjoyable!
